>Devilborn babies are usually abandoned at an early age.
[[Auroran|Aurorans]] once believed devilborn (also known as tieflings) originated from a demonic lineage formed when certain humans betrayed [[Sol]] to join [[Vile Abaddon|Abaddon]]. An ancient law, never rescinded, prohibited the existence of devilborn in [[Aurora]] and [[Ibir]], punishable by seclusion or death. Tieflings were non-existent in [[Ibir]] before [[Auroran]] arrival, but now they can be born in almost any community.
The devilborn lineage often remains dormant for generations, with most devilborn offspring sharing the same ancestry as their non-devilborn parent. This can surprise parents when a human couple unexpectedly gives birth to a devilborn child. Settler families, fearing humiliation and criminal prosecution, might abandon the child. Abandoned children find acceptance in other cultures, such as [[Quilombola]] or [[Native Ibiri]], where prejudices are less pronounced. A devilborn child raised by [[Settler|settlers]] is usually hidden from neighbors and disguised by their parents to guarantee their safety.
## Devil Child
Despite being outcasts, the devilborn adapt well to the culture in which they are raised. While their family and local community may be accustomed to them, unfamiliar people may react negatively to their famed (albeit highly exaggerated) powers and illegal status.
### Playing a Devil Child
- Choose the culture you were raised in. You start with a contact of that culture.
- You can pick *Deception*, *Performance*, or *Stealth* instead of any other skill.
- You gain the [[Fearsome Presence]] and [[Illegal Existence]] origin feats. You can hide your true nature to not be affected.
