The Jangalori deities, known as orixás, are believed to be ancestral people of such great [[Axé]] that they remained alive in the spirit realm as paragons of the living. Through meditation and pursuit of good virtues, a practitioner is said to obtain [[Axé]], becoming more connected to the divine and to their ancestrality. Necromancy is anathema to [[Axé]] and despised by all Jangalori traditions.
