# [[Renown]]
The fame (or infamy) or your party can change how people react to you. Each settlement (or district in a metropolis) can accumulate renown.
People that *don't know you and learn who you are* might treat you differently based on your renown in the area. If you'd like to change a person's opinion about you and your party, you need to succeed in a Persuasion check. People that DO know you might already have their own opinion about you and your party.
Tales of your adventures or other deeds can reach the populace naturally, but you can also participate in [[Social Work]] to solve local problems and gain renown. On the other hand, your antagonists might try to slander you through word of mouth or with hit-pieces in the local media to reduce your renown and turn the local populace against you.
