United during the [[Reign of Terror]] to fight off [[Lucian]], the Federation was recognized as the representative of the [[Aturi]] people in [[Fortuna]] by [[Grand Duke Geraldo Marino de Fortuna]]. Members of the Federation are not under obligation to worship the [[Church of Sol]] and are allowed to manage minor conflicts and disputes in their lands as they see fit, without the intervention of the [[Royal Court of Fortuna]]. ## Relationship with the [[Royal Court of Fortuna]] The Court has established special status for the lands of many native populations throughout [[Fortuna]], allowing the locals to profess their own faith with an understanding that they have a different reading of the [[Church of Sol]] and with different names for their gods, which bought a considerate amount of good will between the parts. Also, through the [[Barony of Brine Rapids]], the Court has funded the reconstruction of [[Vaikemekhem]] and recognized the [[Council of Vaikemekhem]] as a leadership among the [[Aturi]], giving them greater freedom in their territories, as long as the [[Aturi Federation]] submits to the law of the [[Empire of Light]]. [[Grand Duke Geraldo Marino de Fortuna]] was specifically keen to strengthen these relationships due to the natives' role in the fight against the [[Lucian]] forces in the [[Campaign of Saint Malcolm]], and was sure that this connection would impede their return. ## Relationship with [[The Luminaries]] [[The Luminaries]] have many times before collaborated with the [[Aturi Federation]] and petitioned for their right to own their land and create and manage their own businesses in those lands, providing loans and technical support for the [[Aturi]] and other natives in their endeavors. ## Relationship with the [[Fortunan Mining Consortium]] While the [[Fortunan Mining Consortium|FMC]] has used [[Aturi]] expertise to find ore veins beneath the mountains of [[Fortuna]], as well as contributing significantly to the reconstruction of [[Vaikemekhem]], the Consortium still holds a good deal of minor historically [[Aturi]] mines. They have also many times in the past obtained mining rights to areas that were in the process of requiring special designation as native land, almost as if they've had prior information of the natives' application process, which has caused some conflicts between the organizations. ## Relationship with the [[Imperial Army]] While the Army has previously used alliances with the natives as a way to defeat threats that were beyond the geographical reach of the Imperia troops, the Army fears that too much liberty for the natives could lead to a fragmented territory and a conflict of interests between the natives' needs and the needs of the [[Empire of Light]].
