# [[Speaker Guro Norod]] >%%TN %%[[Aturi]] [[Dwarf]] >[!Caption|right lp] >![[Speaker Guro Norod.png|portrait+small]] Guro Norod is the 303 years-old half-blind Speaker of [[Kaagunud]], and has served in that position since the start of the [[Reign of Terror]]. # History Guro's uncle was murdered by [[Lucian]] in front of him when he was young, at the onset of the [[Reign of Terror]]. This led to him inheriting the leadership for the Norod Clan and the stewardship of [[Kaagunud]]. Young Guro made a multitude of deals with [[Lucian]] to keep the town relatively safe, including building and maintaining the [[Kaagunud#Kaagunud Prison|Kaagunud Prison]]. Because of these deals, the Norod clan was shunned by the [[Council of Vaikemekhem]] and Guro was banished from ever stepping in the crystal halls of Vaikemekhem ever again. # Personality Guro is proud, stern, and stubborn. Although he resents the [[Council of Vaikemekhem]] for banishing him and deeply longs to see the [[Crystal Halls]] of [[Vaikemekhem]] again before dying, he has no resentment about the deals he made and is extremely proud of protecting the town, the people and their culture, even if it meant he became a pariah for the aturi. Guro's greatest shame is his only son [[Daaru Norod]] becoming a priest of [[Sol]]. Ever since he started studying religion, Daaru has been shunned by his family and seen as a betrayer of his kin. ## Campaign Appearances - **[[Session 20 - The Speaker]]:** Holds a judgment for the party after their fight with [[Sir Omar Valério]] the [[Knights of the Green Cloak]]. Hears their story and sentences them to pay a fine. Shuns away [[Daaru Norod]] as he tells that the dead squire had been resurrected. - **[[Session 23 - Landing Day]]:** Hosts the party for a traditional [[Landing Day]] dinner. Answers their questions about [[Baron Uthrak]], [[Dame Carlota Sandragon|DCS]], and the political situation, but ultimately asks them to leave [[Kaagunud]] to avoid further trouble with [[Lord Bartolomeu Salgado]].
