# [[Brine Rapids]]
>[[Settler]] town. [[Aturi]] and [[Tajará]] minorities.
Brine Rapids is a town in east [[Fortuna]], it sits at the base of the [[Salt Hills]] and is cut by the rushing [[Itutinga River]]. Beneath the town is a large network of [[#Brine Rapids Waterworks and Sewer Tunnels|sewer tunnels]] that flood during heavy rains to alleviate the increased flow of the river and impedes it from flooding the streets.
A road connects Brine Rapids to [[Kaagunud]] and to the [[Gold Route]] through [[Goldthread]].

## Itutinga (Low District)
The Itutinga district encompasses the area north of the [[Itutinga River]].
### St Bart Chapel’s Cemetery
The biggest cemetery in town. Houses the town's morgue, headed since recently by [[Doctor Heliodora Vesper]]. %%Many victims of the old baron were buried here. Some tombs of the Malazzart family are entrances to abandoned sewer tunnels.%%
### The Dust Bath (Poor Tavern)
Ran by [[aturi]] siblings Timbora Irsir & Atauru Irsir. Their food is always too spicy, from their garlic bread to their goat stew. %%The meat they serve comes from sacrifices to [[Mboiçutatá]] done secretly to avoid attention from the authorities.%%
### Gregor’s Blacksmith Market (Standard Shop)
Aggressive rodent problem. Usually offering apprenticeships.
### Kuabîl Stonemason
Ran by Isolino Kuabîl, an elderly [[aturi]] master stonemason.%% Kuabîl has many visible scars from being enslaved by the old baron, but never talks about it, not even to the stonemason students that work with him. He was forced to build the Cornucopia fountain as part of some of the baron’s rituals, and after the baron’s death, he rebuilt the fountain by himself to avoid it from being used in any similar ritual.%%
## St Ceren’s Square (High District)
The smallest district, it encompasses the blocks surrounding the Cornucopia fountain.
### Cornucopia of St Ceren
A fountain in the middle of the square. %%Built by the old baron. %%The plaque and some items in the fountain were replaced not so long ago.
### Coopers’ Guildhouse & The Barrelhouse Tavern (Wealthy Tavern)
The Coopers’ Guildhouse shares a large building with the fanciest tavern in town. Due to the coopers’ deals with the other guilds, the Barrelhouse showcases all the best beers, spirits, and cheeses in the region. The Coopers’ themselves are the most powerful guild in town, exporting their barrels to the rest of the colony.
### Cheesemakers’ Guildhouse
The Cheesemaker's Guild is headed by [[Lord Bartolomeu Salgado]]. Adjoined to the building is the building of the [[Brine Rapids Gazette]], the newspaper owned by [[Lord Bartolomeu Salgado]].
### Brewers’ Guildhouse. (Noble Tavern)
Together with the Barrelhouse tavern, the Brewers’ guild offers guided trips to local brewers and distillers. These trips attract all sorts of high society from the colony
## Salt Vista(Temple District)
This district is built on a hill slightly elevated in comparison to the others and harbors the churches and the government buildings of the town.
### Brine Rapids' Imperial House
This town's [[Imperial House]].
### Baron’s Manor.
Brine Rapid’s [[Baron Ignácio Remígio Borja]] lives here with his son [[Silvino Remígio Borja]]. This used to be [[The Old Baron]]’s manor, but was taken over and renovated after the [[Reign of Terror]].%% The house still has secret rooms and passages, including one leading to the sewer passages.%%
### Church of Sol the Provider.
Large baroque church.%% Priest Vacílio Bayer (settler halfling).%%
### Chapel of St. Bart
Known as the first chapel dedicated to [[Saint Bartholomew the Finder]], built before he was canonized. The chapel contains tons of works of art depicting [[Saint Bartholomew the Finder|Saint Bart]] in many different forms, and it has a replica of the [[Machete of Saint Bart]] in display, although it looks quite mundane and different from some more ostentatious representations in the pictures spread through the place. Ran by [[Priest Maciel Greenblade]], a half-elf recently arrived from [[Aurora]].
Secret [[Lucian]] catacombs underneath connect it to the sewer system. This chapel was known to be favored by [[The Old Baron]].
## Mercy (Artisan District)
This district surrounds the road out of town.
### Old Pillory Square
Used to have pillories and stocks. Most of those were torn down and now the area hosts markets every Thursday, sometimes attracting troopers and the occasional [[Ourú-Krapok]] trader.
### The Boar & The Bard (Standard Tavern)
Exotic taxidermy collection including an owlbear head, wyvern stinger, and a stuffed cockatrice. %%Friendly to adventurers. Ran by Savaran Zzzxaaxthroth, a retired dragonborn mercenary.%%
## New Tajará (Slums)
Built on the slope behind the hill of Salt Vista. Many people of Tajará descent moved into this area looking for jobs after the [[Reign of Terror]].
### The Dirty Dragon (Poor Tavern)
Rare foods and drinks of [[Tajará]] culture, like snake barbecue, basilisk eggs, and roasted stingbats. Tavern keeper [[Satanildo Tajará]] has recently hired a [[Strigzbugdali]] cook ([[Glonar Daur-hai]]) and a waitress ([[Tarula Nenakham]]).
### The Wise Rat (Poor Tavern)

# Brine Rapids Waterworks and Sewer Tunnels
Underground network of maze-like tunnels and pipes transporting sewage and river/storm-water. Most tunnels are ancient and rarely used. Very few waterworks employees know the extent of the network. Tunnels can be accessed by manholes and grates through the streets, or through access points in each waterworks facility.

**Sewage Plants** are large warehouse-like building. Local sewage drains here, solids are sifted and sold to night-soil people to turn it into fertilizer, then the rest is pumped towards the water treatment facilities. All have office spaces for managers and employ a handful of people. **Decommissioned plants** have been closed off and the pipes amended so water does not pool up there.
## Plants in Itutinga
### Central Sewage Station
The biggest sewage plant of the town. Has water wheels on the river. New building replaced the Brine Rapids Sewage Plant a couple decades ago to integrate the water treatment facility.
### Itutinga Sewage Plant
Has water wheels on the river to work the pumps. Main provider of white water to the city due to the detention basin.
### Itutinga Detention Basin
A large basin that collects the river water that is used in the city. Only structure is a small building that operates the floodgate from the river and into the system. Floods in rainy seasons to avoid flooding the streets.
### Cemetery Sewage Plant (Decommissioned)
Local gang [[Salty Youth]] uses this as base of operations. They have been flushed out a few times, but they keep returning.
## Plants in St Ceren and Mercy
### Brine Rapids Sewage Plant
Used to be the central station and dump sewage into the river, a nightmare to the rural population downstream. Was closed and replaced. Completely abandoned.
### St Ceren’s Pumping Station
Large water tower with a building beneath with pumps. Guarantees the water supply to the guild buildings in the area.
## Plants in Salt Vista
### Salt Vista Sewage Plant
Steam-operated pumps break constantly.
#### Secret Jangalori Chapel
Found in a secret room near the steam machines of the Salt Vista Sewage Plant. Accessed by activating a lever. A safe haven for [[Jangalori]] people during the [[Reign of Terror]]. Walls decorated with paintings of [[Mogûne|a warrior fighting a dragon]].
### Salt Vista Cisterns
Collects river and rain water into massive underground chambers to be pumped and used by the waterworks system.
