# [[Goldthread]] > [[Settler]] settlement. Goldthread is a growing village in the [[Gold Route]], on the crossroads that link the road to [[Brine Rapids]] and [[Goodwheat]]. The village grew around [[Goldthread Inn]] and as a whole, the village receives dozens of travellers passing by or staying every day. >[!caption|sban] ![[Goldthread.png]] [[Goldthread Inn]] at the heart of Goldthread. While the settlement sits in a relatively level section of terrain, the area surrounding the village is full of hills. # Government The city has elected [[Lord Mayor Alceu Vereda Rocha]], the owner of [[Goldthread Inn]] as their mayor. By being right on the [[Gold Route]], the village is at a unique taxation situation, as the north side is considered part of the [[Barony of Brine Rapids]] and the south in the [[Barony of Goodwheat]]. [[Baroness Silvana Jacinto Guimarães de Goodwheat]] has moved into the village to strengthen a proposal for the [[Duchy of Goldthread]], that should solve the taxation issue by giving the village greater importance in the region. # Economy The village's economy turn around the local inns, stables, and providing to the travellers that go through the [[Gold Route]]. Most services are dominated by the [[Goldthread Inn]]. While some of the food is grown locally, the village still depends greatly on [[Goodwheat]] and [[Brine Rapids]] to supply the village's needs. # History The settlement started sometime at the end of the [[Reign of Terror]] around [[Goldthread Inn]]. As traffic through the [[Gold Route]] increased, so did the construction of houses and other services near the inn. It was not until the last 40 years that the taxation problem became clearer, as both baronies looked for additional revenue streams. # Districts Crossroads and Trooper's Market are the oldest districts, both growing naturally around the [[Gold Route]]. The newer districts started to be erected when the taxation problem was already known of. Buildings are mostly all brick-built and painted in bright colors, with yellow being the favored color. ![[Goldthread.excalidraw.svg]] ## Crossroads (Market) The oldest district surrounds [[Goldthread Inn]]. A multitude of services are offered in this district, including restaurants, stables, blacksmiths, farriers, wheelwrights, messenger services. ### Goldthread Inn (High-class and noble carousing, comfortable and wealthy accommodation) ![[Goldthread Inn#^description]] ### Goldthread Stables Employs a large number of grooms, hostlers, and farriers.%% Hostler Fernão Felder runs a workers union out of the place and is highly amicable with the lord mayor, much to the workers’ chagrin. %% ### Skyview Manor Three-story cyan building with white baroque decor. This is the manor of [[Baroness Silvana Jacinto Guimarães de Goodwheat]]. ### Military Outpost Simple building with stables on the side. Serves as an outpost for the soldiers of the [[Imperial Army]] patrolling the [[Gold Route]].%% General Olmos Irsir (LG aturi settler) keeps a small garrison to keep peace in town. Olmos is a good friend of Priestess Sindara and prays to St Malcolm. %% ## Troopers’ Market (Market) The area was historically used by [[Troopers]] that would make use of the traffic around [[Goldthread Inn]] to set their wares for sale. The district developed around the area, while keeping ample grounds for the travelling merchants to keep returning. ### Trooper’s Market Every weekend, troopers of [[Summerport]] and [[Fortuna]] get together to peddle all sorts of wares in a cacophony of offers and announcements. Every sort of product can be bought and sold. During the week, troopers passing by display their wares in a more calm and modest environment, with availability of products greatly depending on which [[Troopers]] are in town at the moment. ### Míthrin’s Storehouse ![[Míthrin's Storehouse#^description]] ## Brineside (Low district) The region is marked by new house developments and an incursion of new settlers looking to live in the town. ### Church of Saint Malcolm the Charitable Modest white baroque church with light-pink detailing.%% Priestess Sindara Valongo (CG settler) is an ally of Brine Rapids. Active in the community, she has the enmity of the Lord Mayor. %% ### The Stomping Guardian Inn (Poor tavern and rooms) ![[Stomping Guardian Inn#^description]] ## Wheatside (Slums) The poorest neighborhood of the village, with a good deal of the newest buildings made out of wood as workers come to work and have to make due with their low resources to find a place to live. %% ### Okunaya's House Jangalori religious space, only known to a few.
