# [[Itaiuba]]
> [[Goré-Goré]] settlement.
Itaiuba is the largest [[Goré-Goré]] settlement, amidst the [[Wolf Wood]] and a few miles off of the [[Gold Route]]. It is famous for being the place where the bard [[Gilberto Ojuara]] called upon ancient magics to discover the native inheritance of the people that lived in this village.

The village was built among the woods in a hillside near a few creeks and rivulets. The town has had a big economical influx after the end of the [[Reign of Terror]], with a boost in economic activity after the [[Goré-Goré Renaissance]].
# Government
The mayor of the village is [[Ricarlo Campos]], an elderly retired adventurer that acquired many riches in his campaigns and invested a good deal of his treasury in his hometown. He's beloved by the locals and has been re-elected many times.
# Economy
The waterways around the village provide fertile soil for the local farmers to provide food for the town, and plenty of clay to sustain the local ceramics industry.
Besides ceramics, tourism became an important vector to the local economy after the [[Goré-Goré Renaissance]] and the city grew with rediscovered culture and pottery techniques.
# History
Itaiuba has been settled sometime during the [[Reign of Terror]] by several families that had been enslaved for generations, dating back from the end of the [[Age of Colonization]]. Their culture and traditions had mostly been erased or defaced with time, and for reasons unknown, they ended up liberated from their captors.
At the end of the [[Reign of Terror]], the local population started moving to other settlements (mainly [[Goodwheat]]) partly looking for opportunities and partly to escape the derogatory penchant of [[Goré-Goré|Wolfwood Beggars]] given to the local population by the [[Lucian|Lucians]] in the past.
With the [[Goré-Goré Renaissance]], the village was put into the spotlight of cultural importance for the native of [[Ibir]], was granted a stimulus by [[Grand Duke Geraldo Marino de Fortuna]], and changed their governmental structure from a chieftain-based system to an elected mayor, having [[Ricarlo Campos]] as their first mayor.
# Districts
Sitting on the north side of the hill, the Center district is the oldest district. On the south side, population has grown disorderly in the slums of the Ojuara district. The seat of power is in Hilltop.
## Hilltop (Artisan district)
The village expanded to the top of the hill towards the end of the [[Reign of Terror]], and most buildings have been recently renovated.
### Itaiuba's Common House
Long lime-washed brick building with ceramic emboss decorating its windows and façades. This is the seat of government in the village. Besides the mayor's office, the common house hosts a library with a wide gamut of literature on the native peoples of [[Ibir]].
Outside the common house is a square with a ceramic bust of [[Gilberto Ojuara]] and small amphitheatre used for official announcements and celebrations.
### The Bisque & Glaze (High-class & poor carousing)
Two-floor brick building at the edge of the woods with a large restaurant in the ground floor. At the back, a bonfire barbecues the items of the tavern's menu. The Bisque & Glaze is a well-equipped inn and tavern that is popular among tourists, and provides guides to waterfalls and springs in the surrounding woods.
### The Ojuara Kiln
Small compound surrounded by a stone fence, with a warehouse-like building around the kiln, and a shop set in a timber shack with an affordable selection of exquisite handcrafted pottery. Serves as a guildhouse for the local pottery workers.
Specialized in the lost ceramic arts rediscovered in the [[Goré-Goré Renaissance]], it offers courses to students of the ceramic arts from all over the colony.
## Center (Market)
Most traditional straw and wattle-and-daub buildings in the district have been recently renovated. Most streets radiate from the Trade Hall at the bottom of the hill and near the entrance of the village.
### Solana’s Fortunes
Tent of red-dyed tarp with a painted sign in front.
%% Solana (LN goré-goré human) is the local fortune teller. Reads shells and beads. Perform rituals and sympathetic magic. Helps the mayor identify if visitors could pose trouble to the village. Solana has a crush on Renata Itaiuba and doesn’t suspect her plans. %%
### Itaiuba Apothecary
Whitewashed building with a logo painted on a wide display window near the entrance. Inside, many potted plants and jars with a variety of curatives inside.
%% Ran by Alina Silduîn Campos (NG goré-goré half-elf), the mayor’s daughter. She graduated a couple years ago in St Ceren’s Medicine College in Lake Hope. Her mother (Larena Silduîn, elf) was a seeker killed at the end of the Reign of Terror. %%
### Itaiuba’s Trade Hall
Large market with stores in the ground floor and food stalls in the mezzanine. The trade hall counts with a stable area for visiting [[Troopers|troopers]]. While most stores sell everyday items, rare and exotic goods can be found here, brought by troopers and travelers from around the colony. The bouncer [[Parrudo]] manages the security while [[Kellersin Mousetrap]] manages the merchants and negotiates magic items with a select few adventurers.
### Church of Sol
Small single-tower white-washed building at the start of the climb to the hilltop.
%% Priest Ruan Rios (CG settler halfling) is open to other religions and sometimes brings quilombola and native preachers. He escaped an investigation of the Church for heresy. %%
## Ojuara (Slums)
This neighborhood grew fast and organically. The streets are tight and vehicles have trouble crossing it. Most buildings are made of straw, timber, or wattle-and-daub.
### Renata’s Remedies.
Brick house converted into an apothecary, with the only distinguishing feature being a painted sign in front.
%% Renata Itaiuba (NE goré-goré human) graduated with Alana from a scholarship offered by the mayor. She is the granddaughter of Jeremia, Itaiuba’s chieftain before the village changed from a tribal structure to something more akin to a settler village. Renata secretly blames Ricarlo for her family’s downfall and will use Solana’s crush on her to bring his downfall. She also has ties to the Luminary of Lake Hope, which she plans on leveraging to reach her goals, independently of how much it would cost the village. %%
### [[Odete's Corner]] (Poor carousing, modest accommodation)
![[Odete's Corner#^description]]
### Cemetery
Surrounded by a colorfully-painted wall, build in a flat plot of land by the base of the hill, and surrounded by woods. [[Gilberto Ojuara]] was buried here and his grave is often full of flowers and offerings, with the chorus of one of his songs inscribed in the tombstone. ^[In [[Session 35 - Absent Dead]], [[Morgano Beltrão]] discovered a faint aura of abjuration coming out of [[Gilberto Ojuara|Ojuara's]] grave.]
